PROCTER & GAMBLE Aerosol CANCER RISK
For much of 2021, Procter and Gamble faced backlash from consumers for the possible health threats resulting from using its products. There have been cases of chemical burns, rashes, and other skin irritations caused by deodorants manufactured by the consumer goods company.
In some instances, customers who have used Procter and Gamble deodorants for years received a cancer diagnosis that could be traced to the products. In November 2021, US-based laboratory, Valisure, discovered high concentrations of benzene in several P&G antiperspirants, such as Old Spice and Secret, that accounted for numerous health threats.
Aside from P&G’s Old Spice and Secret, Valisure also discovered that the following brands had significant traces of benzene in their products:
Suave
Summer’s Eve
Victoria’s Secret
Tag
Walmart’s Equate
Brut
Soft and Dri
Sure
Johnson & Johnson is also issuing a recall for five Neutrogena and Aveeno sunscreen lines after it said it discovered low levels of benzene in the products.
